Whelen Motorsports has announced that Eric Curran will drive the No. 30 C6 Corvette as Sonny Whelen's teammate for the 2007 SPEED World Challenge GT season. After two strong seasons in SPEED Touring Car and finishing fifth in points, Eric Curran is ready to get back in the SPEED GT field.
"The last two years were a lot of fun for me in Touring Car, winning two races, two poles, and finishing in the top ten 15 times, but I'm ready to get back into GT. I miss the awesome V8 rear-wheel drive horsepower"
Eric started SPEED World Challenge in a GT Corvette back in 2000 where he had four top-five finishes with KAC Technologies. Whelen Motorsports is entering their third season in SPEED World Challenge. 2005 SPEED GT Rookie of the Year Sonny Whelen felt that the time was right to expand the team.
"I’m very excited to have Eric join us this season,” Whelen said. “There are many advantages to a multi-car team and having someone with Eric’s experience and talent is just what our team needs right now."
