Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Quality, the Quality System Manager is responsible for coordinating the activities required to meet quality standards as defined in Whelen Quality Management Systems. The individual will also monitor and advise on the performance of the QMS producing data and performance reports, measuring against set indicators. This individual must liaise with other managers and staff throughout the organization to ensure Quality Systems are functioning properly. When appropriate, advise on changes and implementation; providing resources to enable others to achieve quality.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the organization’s Quality Management Systems conforms to customer, internal, ISO 9001 and regulatory requirements specific to Automotive and Aviation manufacturing.
- Will have direct leadership responsibilities in the quality team.
- Assist with the quality system’s document control.
- Participate in the training and qualifications of staff and generation of facility compliance documentation.
- Develop internal measures to ensure compliance with the Quality Management Systems.
- Work with process experts to fully understand and provide guidance on appropriate and complete corrective action.
- Maintain corrective and preventive action process.
- Promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization.
- Develop stability protocols and manage stability studies for device products using FAA guidelines.
- Familiarity with quality standards and processes to follow federal, state, and local regulations.
- Communication skills to convey information in reports, meetings, and status reports.
- Knowledge of the product to perform accurate quality control.

- Preparing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
- Familiarity with quality standards and processes to follow federal, state, and local regulations.

- Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service, investigating (and correcting) customer issues and complaints relating to quality.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s preferred – Majors: Project Managers, Business Management, Engineering, and Operations Management.
- Years of experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience preferred (quality and aviation experience)
- Leadership experience: Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience preferred.

- Able to lift up to 35 pounds.

- Able to stand for entire shift.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
