Security Systems Technician

A Security Systems Technician is responsible for performing skilled technical work in the installation, service and maintenance, repair, modification, and testing of closed-circuit cameras, access control and security systems hardware and software. Additional duties include: installing, maintaining, repairing and testing electronic door locks, access card readers, cameras, and other security systems related hardware; testing security systems hardware and correcting malfunctions to restore the conformance of the equipment to established standards; working with data, alarm and monitoring circuits; and assisting in designing security systems within NH facility. Work involves evaluating present systems and recommending system expansion, modification, and replacement. Must be able to communicate with management, vendors, contractors.

Security Systems Technician Requirements:

  • Knowledge of IP cameras, access control, and security system equipment testing, repair, and maintenance procedures
  • Experience in low voltage wiring
  • Have basic system programming skills
  • Have the ability to work with blueprints and as-is-builds
  • Knowledge of technical and operating methods, tools, equipment, and materials used in security system equipment testing, repair, installation, and maintenance work
  • Knowledge of procedures used for installing and maintaining security systems and equipment
  • Install and troubleshoot Ip video, access control, intrusion, and fire systems
  • Occasionally lift an 80 lb. extension ladder
  • Work 15 to 25 feet above ground
  • Flexibility to work overtime and travel overnight as needed
  • Ability & desire to learn about our IP camera network and Access control products and services

Security Systems Technician Duties:

  • Performs a variety of security systems installation, maintenance, modification, and repair work
  • Repairs access control, IP camera network, electronic devices, and electromechanical devices to maintain the facility electronic security system
  • Installs and relocates security systems equipment and other related equipment
  • Corrects malfunctions to restore the conformance of equipment to established standards. Make emergency repairs
  • Maintains records of equipment installed
  • Security Systems Technician will have 2 years of hands-on experience with a strong understanding of security system solutions and be highly motivated with an eye towards quality and detail. Candidates will be well organized with good written and oral communication skills and be able to work independently. A familiarity with Axis Camera Station and Hirsch Identiv Velocity is recommended.
