Systems Administrator

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain our Azure/Microsoft365 tenant including services related to computer, network, security, and storage. Integration with other mission critical systems.
  • Leverage Azure services for Disaster Recovery planning and testing, and implementation.
  • Managing cloud infrastructure service instances and multiple cloud servers.
  • Participate in Help Desk system as needed. Be available to provide guidance and support to help desk agents as requested.
  • Collaborate in identifying methods and solutions to provide an elevated level of service to all Whelen Engineering employees.
  • Assist in organizing, documenting, and maintaining on-premises servers and AD (Active Directory) infrastructure (DNS, DHCP, CA (Certificate Authorities) & GPO (Group Policy Object).
  • Stays current with existing and emerging technologies and is continuously seeking out areas of improvement.
  • Must partner closely with the DevSecOps Development and Security teams, and other teams to ensure alignment to departmental and business objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline with excellent troubleshooting skills and a minimum of three years’ experience managing Medium-to-large-scale Office 365 / Azure systems.
  • Required Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting M365/Azure basic business function requirements, such as Azure AD, SSO (single sign‑on), MFA (Multi Factor Authentication), conditional access, virtualization, and storage.
  • Broad experience supporting DevOps and software development utilizing Azure, AWS, or Google cloud-based services is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years full time experience as an IT (Information Technology) system administrator, specifically in Azure Cloud / M365 resources, licensing, security, and more.
  • Strong experience with Active Directory, VMWare, PowerShell.
  • Excellent communication skills – written, oral and online.
  • Highly organized, productive, resourceful, and detail-oriented self-starter.
  • Able to work both independently and in a team; effectively manage multiple projects.
  • Regularly maintain/refresh internal IT procedures and documentation
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Container orchestration, such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with Jira & Confluence
  • Familiar with ITIL Processes and Procedures
  • Knowledge of virtualization platforms (i.e., Nutanix, VMWare, Hyper-V)
  • Configuration and support for DaaS (AVD (Azure Virtual Desktop))
