Honoring Service, Driving Excellence: WEVT Heads to the Racetrack This Memorial Day Weekend

This Memorial Day weekend, driver Jesse Love and the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) and Whelen Engineering No. 2 Chevy Camaro will hit the track at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC, sporting a bold and patriotic paint scheme. It’s a tribute to those who served and a celebration of the behind-the-scenes professionals who help keep others safe every day: emergency vehicle technicians.

Whelen’s No. 2 Camaro proudly carries the red, white, and blue into Memorial Day weekend, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Alongside the race car, Whelen’s unwavering commitment to safety and performance will be front and center as we bring the Whelen Engineering Vehicle Technician (WEVT) program to the event. Eric Maurice, Whelen’s Director of Law Enforcement Sales, will be onsite with our expert WEVT trainers to recognize and support these behind-the-scenes heroes - the skilled technicians responsible for outfitting first responder vehicles with critical warning systems.

It’s an honor to be at the track this Memorial Day weekend, recognizing the work of vehicle technicians and honoring those who gave their lives in service to our country.

The WEVT program is an exclusive training initiative for Whelen Master Distributors, developed to raise the standard for installing emergency vehicle lighting and sirens. Just as pit crews keep the No. 2 Camaro in peak condition, emergency vehicle technicians play an essential role in ensuring public safety professionals remain safe and mission-ready on the road.
In a field where precision and reliability are critical, WEVT helps bridge the gap, empowering technicians to confidently install complex systems, wire vehicle builds correctly, and program advanced warning solutions with best-in-class knowledge and support.

Beyond the stars and stripes, this paint scheme honors the emergency vehicle technicians who make safety possible for first responders every day.

As we pause this Memorial Day weekend to honor those who gave everything, we’re also proud to shine a spotlight on the dedicated experts who keep first responder vehicles running and our communities protected. From the racetrack to the field, Whelen is proud to lead with innovation and deliver unmatched safety wherever it’s needed most.

Don’t forget to tune in to the race on Saturday, May 24th at 4:30 p.m. EST on the CW and follow us on social media for behind-the-scenes moments with the No. 2 team and our WEVT trainers during this special Memorial Day weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
