FDIC 2021 Recap

As FDIC 2021 wraps up, we wanted to thank everyone who was able to stop by our booth while we were there. Over the course of this event, we were able to introduce several new products and features, all prioritizing enhanced first responder safety.

In case you couldn’t attend, take a look below at some of the highlights from this year’s show.

Introducing all-new DVI™ Enabled Products

Dynamic Variable Intensity™ flash patterns gradually increase and decrease warning light intensity, better conveying visual information to approaching motorists at night. These patterns clearly indicate when an emergency vehicle is parked, improving their ability to navigate around an emergency scene safely. Whelen first introduced the concept of nighttime diming at the 2019 FDIC conference. This year, we introduced even more DVI Enabled Products to further this initiative.

Bringing Control to the Fire/EMS market with CenCom Core® Control Systems

CenCom Core and Core-R® control systems are now available for the Fire and EMS market. As we set out to design Core-R, we wanted to offer a control system with Fire and EMS in mind. Core-R is a vehicle control system engineered to enhance first responder and motorist safety with complete configurability, advanced automation, and remote connectivity. Utilizing the Vehicle-to-Vehicle Sync module and DVI™ patterns, Core-R calms a scene by unifying flash patterns and tones on multiple emergency vehicles and minimizing harsh flash edges, allowing for enhanced first responder safety.

Experience Ultimate and Seamless Control with the Whelen Cloud Platform

The Fire and EMS market can now benefit from the Whelen Cloud Platform: a cloud-based vehicle communication platform that sends and receives data through cellular networks. Manage vehicle configurations and firmware updates over-the-air, create faster response times with real-time information to pinpoint vehicle locations, and easily organize your fleet and Whelen product information. The Vehicle Safety Gateway (VSG™) bridges connectivity to provide over-the-air communication from the Whelen Cloud Platform to CenCom Core™ and WeCanX™ devices.

Additional Products Featured:

High Current Remote Expansion Module

The High Current Remote Expansion Module brings intelligent control, previously only available for sirens and warning lights, to scene lighting — an integral component of the fire and EMS apparatus. Offering lighting that is easier on the eyes and focuses the light where it needs to go, at the right intensities to promote safety, functionality, and compliance.

WCX® Control Point

The Core Control Point serves as the main controller of a Whelen WeCanX® lightbar or Arges® when a Core control system is not being utilized. When using Whelen Command®, this module can be configured via the USB-C port to program lighting functions.

Thank you for those who were able to visit Whelen at FDIC 2021. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year.
