Whelen Gives Back
From the front lines to the finish line, we stand with those who protect and serve. Whether it’s honoring fallen heroes, supporting families, or strengthening our communities, giving back is at the heart of who we are.
Trusted to Protect - For over 70 years, Whelen has been the most trusted name in the emergency warning industry. Innovation drives our technology - but people drive our purpose. That’s why we proudly give back through national partnerships, community engagement, and purpose-driven initiatives that honor and support the heroes who show up every day.
Our Partnership with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF)
Founded by Congress in 1992, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) is a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to honoring America’s fallen fire heroes, supporting their families, colleagues, and fire service organizations, and working to reduce preventable firefighter deaths and injuries. Headquartered in Emmitsburg, Maryland, the NFFF coordinates the annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, provides scholarships, grief counseling and peer support networks for Fire Hero families, and offers safety training programs via its Everyone Goes Home® initiative. With continued support, NFFF fuels vital efforts that ensure the heroism of fallen firefighters endures, while striving to make tomorrow’s fire service safer.

How Whelen Supports NFFF
- $1 from every Whelen fire product purchase goes directly to NFFF - supporting memorial events, safety programs, and family support services.
- Each year, Whelen and Richard Childress Racing unveil a custom NFFF paint scheme on the No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet Camaro. The car features the names of fallen firefighters and races in their honor.
Our Partnership with the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF)
Founded in 1984, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring fallen officers, sharing the story of American law enforcement, and working to improve safety for those who serve. Led by George “Sonny” Whelen, Racing for a Cure is Whelen’s commitment to supporting Parkinson’s research through a robust partnership with The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. As a Board Member of the Foundation since 2011, Sonny has dedicated this personal mission to speeding breakthroughs that improve lives and ultimately deliver a cure.
Today, over 6 million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s disease - and nearly 90,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in the U.S. alone. There is no known cure, but through advocacy, research funding, and grassroots support, we’re helping to change that.
Through the Foundation’s Team Fox program, Racing for a Cure channels energy and passion into high-impact fundraising efforts. Every dollar raised goes directly to research - no exceptions.

Community in Action
We believe in showing up - at work, at events, and in our neighborhoods. One of our most meaningful traditions includes the Connecticut Law Enforcement Torch Run (CT LETR) for Special Olympics. For nearly two decades, Whelen employees have joined officers and athletes, helping carry the Flame of Hope across the state. We’re proud to support the Special Olympics and the mission of inclusion, determination, and respect. “We’re thrilled to be part of such a meaningful event that brings people together for a fantastic cause,” said Geoff Marsh, CEO of Whelen. “The Torch Run exemplifies the spirit of respect and inclusivity, and as a company committed to public safety, it’s an honor for us to support this event each year.”
Honoring community heroes Every day, heroes across the country rise to the occasion - protecting lives, serving their communities, and showing what it truly means to lead with courage and heart.
Our Everyday Champion program honors these individuals: the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, dispatchers, and others who go the extra mile, often without recognition. Whether it’s a single act of bravery or a lifetime of dedicated service, these champions inspire us to do more and give more.
We’re proud to share their stories and honor their efforts to make their communities better, safer places to live.
