Matthew Ayers is a Technical Sales Manager for Whelen Engineering Company, the leading US manufacturer of emergency warning technologies. Previously, Matt served 23 years as a law enforcement officer, culminating as a patrol services and special operations commander. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy’s 259th Session.
With over 20 years of experience in the emergency vehicle warning industry, Matt has completed hundreds of emergency vehicle upfits and serves on the Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification Commission’s L1 advisory Panel. He has written dozens of articles on warning system technologies and served as chairperson for the industry’s premier trade show.
In his role with Whelen, Matt consults with upfit providers and directly supports first responder agencies with cutting edge information about warning systems and connected vehicle applications to enhance safety for all roadway users. Many of his concepts for calming chaotic visual signal messages are now standard in the industry.
Matt is active on LinkedIn, where he has authored helpful articles for agency decision makers and leaders. He is a disabled veteran who served two enlistments in the United States Army’s 10th Mountain Division. Married with two children, he works remotely from Tennessee.
